The Wuhan-Xiaogan Intercity Railway is a rapid intercity railway connecting Wuhan and Xiaogan within the Wuhan city circle. 汉孝城际铁路,又名武孝城际铁路,始自汉口站,终到孝感东站,先期于2016年12月1日通车,后续延伸到云梦东站并于2019年12月通车,再与汉阳新站连接的武西客专在云梦东站并轨。武孝城际沿线设车站10个,云梦东通车后将多一坐站点。最初设计速度汉口站-天河机场站200km/h(预留250km/h条件),天河机场站-孝感东站250km/h。实行大站快车和站站停列车相结合的运营方式,每天10对,大站快车沿线停靠汉口、天河机场、孝感东等车站,运行时间约30分钟;站站停列车运行时间约50分钟。
武孝城际铁路是武汉城市圈内一条连接武汉和孝感的快速城际铁路。线路自武汉枢纽汉口站东咽喉引出,沿塔子湖西路经江岸区后湖街、东西湖区的将军街,过府河到黄陂区武汉盘龙城经济开发区,经机场后从白水湖北侧、野猪湖、王母湖南侧经过,然后经毛陈至孝感市中心城区。汉孝城铁通车后,从汉口到天河机场只需15分钟以内,孝感等城市圈市民有了最快通道直达天河机场,而武汉经襄阳至十堰的城际铁路也将利用汉孝城铁,延伸至十堰北站,途经孝感、随州、襄阳。这样一来,通过城铁、地铁等交通工具,省内客源可源源不断快捷入汉,同时也充实了武汉空港客源。那时,武汉将真正成为一个大空港。
