Nantong-Shanghai Railway, the construction project is called “Nantong-Shanghai Railway”, is a national Class I passenger and freight double-track electrified express railway in China connecting Shanghai and Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The Tonghu Railway runs from Zhaodian Station to Anting West Station, with a total length of 137.28 kilometers, 9 stations (6 of which handle passenger transportation), and a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The first phase of the Tonghu Railway project leads from the newly established Zhaodian Station of the Ningqi Railway, passes 2 kilometers upstream of Jiuwei Port in Nantong City, crosses the Tianshengang Waterway of the Yangtze River and connects to Zhangjiagang Shisanwei on the south bank, and then connects with Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang. Entering Anting West Station, the total length of the main line is 137.473 kilometers. The Shanghai-to-Shanghai Railway is an important part of China’s coastal railway corridor. It is a convenient railway channel connecting northern Jiangsu to southern Jiangsu and the Shanghai-Hangzhou region. It is important for improving the transportation capacity of cross-river channels, improving the regional comprehensive transportation system, and accelerating the transformation of economic development methods. 通沪铁路(Nantong-Shanghai Railway),建设工程名为“沪通铁路”,是中国境内一条连接上海市与江苏省南通市的国家Ⅰ级客货共线双线电气化快速铁路,是《中长期铁路网规划》(2016年修订版)中“八纵八横”高速铁路主通道之一“沿海通道”的重要组成部分,是《“十三五”现代综合交通运输体系发展规划》中“十纵十横”综合运输大通道之一“沿海运输通道”的重要组成部分,是以承担上海、江苏城际旅客交流为主,兼顾货物运输和中长途旅客交流的铁路通道。通沪铁路由赵甸站至安亭西站,全长137.28千米,设9座车站(其中6座办理客运业务),设计速度200千米/小时。
通沪铁路一期工程从宁启铁路新设的赵甸站引出,经南通市九圩港上游2千米处,跨长江天生港水道接南岸的张家港十三圩,经张家港、常熟、太仓接入安亭西站,正线全长137.473千米。通沪铁路是中国沿海铁路大通道的重要组成部分,是沟通苏北至苏南、沪杭地区的便捷铁路通道,对提高过江通道运输能力完善区域综合交通运输体系,加快转变经济发展方式,促进长三角地区经济社会的融合发展和辐射带动具有重要的意义。通沪铁路建成后,沿海铁路大通道将全面贯通,将极大缩短上海与南通及苏北地区的时空距离,对于江苏沿江两岸产业联动发展具有重要意义。
