Zhejiang’s Expanding High-Speed Rail Network: Fostering Regional Development and Connectivity
High-speed rail, as an important transportation infrastructure in China, plays a significant role in promoting regional collaborative development. Zhejiang Province, known for its economic prosperity, has built an extensive high-speed rail network. Currently, the province is actively advancing the construction of several high-speed rail lines, including the Jinhua-Jiande High-Speed Railway, Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway, Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway, and Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway. Let’s explore how these new high-speed rail lines might affect your travel.
Jinhua-Jiande High-Speed Railway(金建高铁)
The Jinhua-Jiande High-Speed Railway will connect Jinhua and Jiande, covering a total length of about 65 kilometers, with a design speed of 250 km/h. The line will pass through Jinhua and Lanxi, finally reaching Jiande, and will include stations such as Jinhua, Lanxi East, and Jiande. Expected to open in 2024, the travel time from Jinhua to Jiande will be significantly reduced, benefiting cooperation between the two areas in tourism, education, and culture.
Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway(杭衢高铁)
The Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway will connect Hangzhou and Quzhou, with a total length of about 131 kilometers and a design speed of 350 km/h. Starting from Hangzhou, passing through Jiande and Longyou, it will end in Quzhou. Stations along the line include Jiande and Longyou North. Expected to open by the end of 2023 or in 2024, it will reduce the travel time from Hangzhou to Quzhou to about one hour, facilitating personnel exchanges and economic cooperation between the two areas.
Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway(杭温高铁)
The Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway, connecting Hangzhou and Wenzhou, spans about 260 kilometers, with a design speed of 350 km/h. Starting from Hangzhou, it includes stations such as Tonglu East, Pujiang, Hengdian, Yiwu, Pan’an, Nanxi River, Xianju, Wenzhou North, and Wenzhou South. Expected to open in June 2024, it will reduce the travel time from Hangzhou to Wenzhou to under one hour, strengthening the transportation link between these two major economic centers.
Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway(杭州机场高铁)
The Hangzhou Airport High-speed Railway has a total length of approximately 85 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The line starts from Hangzhou City, passes through Tongxiang City and Haining City, and ends at Shaoxing North Railway Station. There are Tongxiang Station, Haining Tide Watching Station, Xiaoshan Airport Station, Qiantang Station and Shaoxing North Station along the line. It is expected to be completed within four years, which will shorten the travel time from Hangzhou city to the airport to 20 minutes, significantly improving the airport’s transportation convenience.
The construction of these four high-speed rail lines will further strengthen the connections between cities in Zhejiang Province and promote the industrial upgrading and economic development of cities along the lines.
