Northern Yangtze River High Speed Railway 沪宁城际

The Northern Yangtze River High-Speed Railway, also known as the Northern Yangtze River Intercity in reference to the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity, is an important part of the national medium and long-term railway network. It is also a crucial component of the Yangtze River Delta’s intercity rail transit network and serves as a rapid direct route connecting the cities along the northern banks of the Yangtze River with the Nanjing and Shanghai metropolitan areas. The planned section of the Northern Yangtze River High-Speed Railway from Shanghai to Hefei will start from Shanghai, pass through Chongming Island to Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou, and from the northern station of Nanjing to Hefei, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The Northern Yangtze River High-Speed Railway will pass through Shanghai, Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou, and Nanjing, effectively connecting the central region of Jiangsu province. Within Jiangsu, the railway will cover a distance of approximately 385 kilometers and will be categorized as a passenger-dedicated line. This railway is also referred to as the Northern Yangtze River Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway. Beyond Jiangsu, it forms a vital part of the national railway network along the Yangtze River and is integral to the Yangtze River Delta’s intercity rail network, providing a quick direct connection between the northern Yangtze cities and the metropolitan circles of Nanjing and Shanghai. Once the Northern Yangtze River High-Speed Railway is completed, Lianyungang will be able to access the Yangzhou hub through the Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang Railway, thus connecting with it. At that time, there will be three corridors between Lianyungang and Shanghai: the coastal route, the Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang route, and the Northern Yangtze River route.

北沿江高铁又被称为江北的沪宁城际。这条铁路还是国家中长期铁路网中沿江通道的重要组成部分,是长三角城际轨道交通网的重要组成部分,也是江北沿江城市与南京都市圈、上海都市圈快速直达的快捷通道。北沿江高速铁路，即规划沿江高速铁路上海至合肥段，起自上海，经崇明岛至南通、泰州、扬州、南京北站至合肥，设计速度350千米/小时 。 北沿江高速铁路途经南京市、扬州市、泰州市、南通市、上海市，线路贯穿整个苏中地区。江苏境内全长约385千米，等级为客运专线。北沿江高铁又被称为江北的沪宁城际铁路。跳出江苏，这条铁路还是国家中长期铁路网中沿江通道的重要组成部分，是长三角城际轨道交通网的重要组成部分，也是江北沿江城市与南京都市圈、上海都市圈快速直达的快捷通道。北沿江高速铁路建成后，连云港可通过连淮扬镇铁路接入扬州枢纽后与之相连，届时，连云港至上海之间将有沿海、连淮扬镇、北沿江3条通道。
