Datong-Xi’an Railway 大西高铁

The Datong-Xi’an Railway Passenger Dedicated Line (commonly known as the “Daxi High-Speed Railway” by the common people) is an important part of the country’s “Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan”. The main line of the Datong-Xi’an High-speed Railway is 859km long, and the main line length in Shanxi Province is 706 kilometers. The length is 153 kilometers. The line starts from Datong City, Shanxi Province in the north, runs through the central part of Shanxi Province from north to south, passes through Shuozhou City, Xinzhou City, Taiyuan City, Jinzhong City, Linfen City, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, and ends in Yongji City, Shanxi Province. Cross the Yellow River and enter Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, passing through Lintong to Xi’an. The line’s design speed is 250 kilometers per hour. After the Datong-Xi’an high-speed railway is completed, the running time of the train from Datong to Xi’an will be shortened from more than 16 hours now to more than 5 hours. It is expected that the section from Taiyuan to Xi’an will be opened to traffic in July 2014, and the section from Yuanping to Taiyuan in December 2015.

大同至西安铁路客运专线（老百姓俗称“大西高铁”）是国家《中长期铁路网规划》的重要组成部分，大西高铁正线全长859km，山西省境内正线长度706公里，陕西省境内正线长度153公里，线路北起山西省大同市，自北向南贯穿山西省中部，向南经山西省朔州市、忻州市、太原市、晋中市、临汾市、运城市，在山西永济市跨黄河进入陕西省渭南市，经临潼至西安。线路设计行车速度250公里/小时，大西高铁建成后，大同至西安列车运行时间将由现在的16个多小时缩短至5个多小时。预计2014年7月太原到西安段通车，2015年12月原平至太原段通车。
